Pornography; Pressures, Expectations and The Law - For Key Stage 4 (KS4) Learners
We’ve developed a brand new set of teaching and learning materials for KS4 educators, which aligns closely with the UK Government’s mandatory RSHE curriculum framework.
In collaboration with the sexual health and wellbeing charity Brook, this age-appropriate Key Stage 4 lesson pack is designed to encourage young people to think critically about pornography, sex and relationships.
Drawing on the BBFC’s unrivalled expertise in pornography regulation, combined with Brook’s extensive experience in delivering RSHE lessons into schools, the resource comprises structured lesson plans, engaging activities, and media clips.
The two lessons are carefully mapped out, with detailed accompanying teacher guidance and notes, alongside clear objectives and learning outcomes tied to the curriculum. Lesson one focuses on “Pornography and the Law”, and lesson two looks at “Pornography, Pressures and Expectations.”
Key topic areas include:
Exposure of young people to online pornography
Learning about sex through porn
Body image, representation and consent
How sexual attitudes, expectations and behaviours are impacted by porn
Production and sharing of youth-produced sexual imagery
These topics are further supported by activities such as a quiz about the regulation of pornography and a values continuum plan. The resource also offers a digital, on-demand webinar to equip secondary teachers with the tools they need for effective lesson planning and delivery.
Please note the lesson pack makes use of content classified by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) as suitable for audiences aged 15 or over.
