BBFC Intros: Bitesize Video Resources - For Secondary and Post-16 Learners

Our popular educational talks about the BBFC are now available as free video resources.

Delivered by our expert team of Compliance Officers, these classroom-ready introductory videos pull back the curtain on the important work of the BBFC, utilising engaging visuals and age-appropriate media clips to teach learners about who we are, what we do and why we do it.

Our 30-minute BBFC Intros include:

  • A factual introduction to the BBFC and our age ratings

  • Clips from popular films which help to illustrate our classification standards

  • Classroom prompts to provoke discussion and further activities.

Each Intro is tailored to Secondary (Key Stage 3-4) and A-Level (Key Stage 5) learners, including those studying Film, Media or Digital Media courses.

Both video resources have been developed to align closely with PSHE, OCR, WJEC, BTEC and other national curriculum specifications.

Key topic areas for each age group include:

Secondary:

  • The importance of BBFC age ratings and content advice

  • How these can help young people make healthy and informed decisions about what to watch, including online

A-Level:

  • The role of the BBFC within the wider film industry

  • How classification standards have changed over time

  • Other aspects of the BBFC’s work, including Advice services, cuts and classifying trailers.
