Note: The following text may contain spoilers

THE WOLF MAN is a black and white horror film, made in 1941, about a man who is bitten by a werewolf and becomes one himself.

Violence

There are a number of scenes in which people are attacked by a werewolf, as well as scenes in which werewolves are attacked by people. However, although we are told that several victims of the werewolves have had their "jugular severed", there is no sight of this, nor of any other injury detail.

Threat

There is a mild sense of threat throughout much of the film, with people walking through dark and misty woods, afraid of what might happen. There are also some transformation scenes, in which the main character becomes a werewolf. His legs become hairy and he sprouts claws. The effect is creepy, but unlikely to cause undue upset to modern children, who are used to far more sophisticated special effects.
