WHIPLASH is a US drama about a young jazz drummer who struggles to succeed under the tutelage of a tough mentor at the country's best music school.

There is one use of very strong language ('c**t') which is neither aggressive nor sexual. There are also more than eighty uses of strong language ('f**k', 'motherf**ker', 'c**ksucker') as well as moderate and milder uses of bad language, including, 'bitch', prick', 'dick', 'shit' and 'ass'.

There is also some use of discriminatory language, including, 'retard' and 'faggot'.

There are strong sex references which are used in the context of music directions by an instructor. These include directions not to 'come early' and to play faster than one gives 'hand jobs'.

There is an accident scene in which a character is seen inside a car as it is hit by another vehicle, with sight of bloody injuries to face and hands. There are other shots of blood dripping from the character's hands onto a drum kit in several scenes. There is a reference to suicide by hanging and drug references that mention 'heroin'.
