LA FILLE DU PUISATIER - THE WELL DIGGER'S DAUGHTER is a French language drama set at the start of the Second World War about a young woman who falls pregnant outside of marriage. The film was classified 'PG' for mild language and innuendo.

The BBFC's Guidelines at 'PG' state there may be 'Mild bad language only'. The film contains a number of uses of the word 'bastard', which is used in the literal sense to indicate an illegitimate child. The mild innuendo consists of a sarcastic reference by the pregnant girl's father to hanging "a red light by my window", which is an oblique reference to prostitution. The Guidelines at 'PG' state there may be 'Mild sex references and innuendo only'.
