TULLY is a comedy drama in which an exhausted mother's life is reinvigorated by the arrival of a young woman employed to help with childcare.

There is strong language ('f**k'), as well as milder terms such as 'asshole' and 'shit'

Strong sex references include a joke about a 'golden shower'. There are also scenes in which a woman watches the television show GIGOLOS and a naked man and woman are briefly seen having sex on a bed. In another scene from the show a man says "I love spanking women during the act of making love", which is followed by a shot of a woman's bare buttocks being smacked.

There is a scene in which a woman drives a car after an evening of heavy drinking.

A child's behaviour is referred to as 'quirky' by an educational professional, prompting his mother to ask if her child is "retarded".
