THE SWORD IN THE STONE is a 1963 animated musical adaptation of the classic story about the origins of King Arthur.

There is some very mild slapstick action, including knights in armour jousting at a tournament and a wolf being bashed on the head by a falling branch. In one scene a small fish is briefly placed in danger as it is chased by a large carp. However, after a short chase the fish is rescued by an owl and all ends well.

In one scene Merlin the wizard puffs on a large pipe but the film as a whole neither glamorises nor promotes the practice of smoking.
