THE SPY NEXT DOOR is a comedy action film in which a secret agent hides his identity by pretending to be a salesman until a threat to his girlfriend and her children leads him back into action.

Violence

There are frequent scenes of comic action violence in which the hero despatches enemies using martial arts skills, although his abilities clearly derive from extensive training and the sequences are comedic throughout and often involve fantastical gadgetry. Some of the villains are shown wielding knives although the weapons are not glamorised. One of the child characters ignites a stink bomb using an electric oven lighter, and another uses a makeshift flame thrower to stop a villain climbing in through the window, although she is warned not to play with fire.

Occasional bleeped use of bad language appears during the 'bloopers' that appear in the end credits.

Infrequent mild sex references occur, including a boy's passing reference that having pay-per-view was nearly as good as going to the Playboy mansion.
