THE RISE is a British crime drama in which a young man who is released from prison takes revenge on a drug boss.

There is frequent strong language ('f**k'), often delivered with aggression or in a violent context. There is also one use of very strong language ('c**t'). Other language includes 'twat', 'dickhead', 'shagged', 'prick', 'ponce' and 'knob'.

Strong violence and threat includes a young man being chased and viciously attacked by a group who trap him in a garage that they set on fire, leaving him to die. The beating includes crunchy kicks and blows, but without any focus on blood or injuries. Other scenes include a man being attacked with a crowbar and a man hit around the head and face with a metal bar before having his cheek slashed.

Packets of drugs are seen and there is discussion about drug dealing, but no hard drug use is shown and the film does not endorse or glamorise drug use or drug dealing. In one scene a group of young men share a marijuana cigarette, but this is not focussed upon.
