REVANCHE is an Austrian subtitled drama about a man who is mourning the killing of his prostitute lover and then meets a rural couple linked to the murder. The film was classified '15' for strong sex and sex references.

The film contains several scenes of strong sex. The strongest scene comes early in the film where a couple are indulging in foreplay and sex whilst in a shower cubicle. The activity is seen in from a somewhat distanced perspective and through a transparent shower curtain. The male character kisses and fondles the female's breast and then kisses her bare stomach and crotch area briefly, before a brief shot of sex against the wall is seen. The BBFC Guidelines at '15' allow for sexual activity to be portrayed 'without strong detail'. This scene is a strong sex scene but given the distance of the single shot and shower curtain, no strong detail can be clearly seen, though the suggestions of brief oral sex and penetrative sex are clearly conveyed. It is also relevant that the scene is not presented in an erotic or titillatory context. Similarly two further scenes of masturbation and sexual thrusting are portrayed without strong detail, either through dark silhouetting of the participants or a masked rear view of the activity.

The film also contains some strong sex references, which include references to masturbation and oral sex, within the context of the world of prostitution. The BBFC Guidelines on sex references at '15' state that 'there may be strong verbal references to sexual behaviour, but the strongest references are unlikely to be acceptable'. The references in this film are indeed strong enough to be considered unsuitable for younger audiences, but are not the strongest sex references.

The film also contains scenes of moderate threat and violence and infrequent strong language.
