Note: The following text may contain spoilers

QUATERMASS AND THE PIT is a 1967 science fiction horror film in which a mysterious object is discovered buried deep underground at the site of a Central Line extension on the London Underground.

Theme

Several frightening sequences are quite prolonged and sufficiently intense. In one scene, characters are 'attacked' by loud, weird noises and there is a fairly gruesome image of a character's badly burned and scarred face.

There is infrequent use of mild bad language ('bloody').
