THE PEARL BUTTON is a Spanish language documentary about Chile's troubled history told through the country's relationship with water.

Disturbing images

Some scenes include black and white archive photos depicting real dead bodies, including that of a nude male who was shot by hunters, and the face of a woman's corpse discovered in the sea.

There are also references to torture, execution and mutilation, including the removal of body parts. There are visuals of equipment used for torture and verbal references to sexual violence, hanging, confinement, and the burning of skin, all in the context of torturing people.

There are occasional shots of natural nudity in archive photographs of Chilean tribes.
