MR. DEEDS GOES TO TOWN is a romantic comedy drama, from 1936, in which an unassuming man from a small town unexpectedly inherits a fortune and moves to New York City.

Violence

There is infrequent very mild violence including brief punch-ups.

Threat

A desperate man points a gun at several other men but quickly realises the error of his ways and apologises for his actions.

Sex

There is mild innuendo as a man asks his employer about the type of woman he likes and offers to meet his requirements. A manservant is asked about a former employer having several women in his house at the same time and what he did with them; the manservant replies, "That was something I was never able to find out".

There are also scenes of smoking which reflect the period in which the film was made.
