Note: The following text may contain spoilers

INSURGENT is an action adventure sequel, in which a young couple rebel against the social controls imposed on them by a higher power.

There are several scenes of moderate action violence, including numerous characters being shot without detail of blood or injury. Characters also trade combat and martial arts blows, including head-butts, punches to the face and chest, and implied arm breaks. There is occasional sight of blood on characters' skin after they have been struck. There are also moments of moderate gun and knife threat, including a knife being held to a man's throat.

There is a single use of strong language ('f**k'). Milder bad language includes uses of 'shit' and 'bullshit'.

Other issues include a sex scene in which a couple kiss and remove their shirts, with a woman's bare back exposed as they lie down together.
