Note: The following text may contain spoilers

HITSVILLE: THE MAKING OF MOTOWN is a documentary about the Motown record label.

Discrimination

Racist language and discriminatory behaviour includes repeated use of the word ‘nigger’, as well as images of police brutality and scenes depicting the Ku Klux Klan protesting against the civil rights of African Americans. Racism is clearly not condoned and the discriminatory references occur within an historical and educational context.

Threat and horror

There is a scene of police brutality in which a man is grabbed by the neck by a police officer. There are also scenes in which police point guns at peaceful protesters.

Drugs

In song lyrics, there are references to "getting high".
