THE GUARD is an Irish comedy thriller about a small-town Irish policeman who teams up with an FBI agent to crack a cocaine-smuggling ring.

Language

There is occasional very strong language ('c**t') and frequent uses of strong language ('f**k').

Violence

There are bloody shootings which result in sight of large blood spurts.

Sex

Strong sex references occur during a scene in which a man is in a hotel room with two prostitutes and makes references to his "jism" and refers to the size of his penis and a woman's breasts; it is implied that they have a threesome but no sex is shown. There are also sexualised uses of strong language ('f**k').

Drugs

A man takes pills.
