FINDING VIVIAN MAIER is a documentary about a street photographer who was 'discovered' only after her death.

Theme

There are infrequent references to child abuse. Some interviewees, who as children were looked after by Maier when she was employed as a nanny, claim that she abused them. One woman claims that she was force-fed and had her head slammed against the side of a book case, and a man speculates that Maier may herself have been brutalised or molested at some point in her life. He adds that she had a deep mistrust of men, claiming 'all they want is sex'. He recalls being warned by her, "These men will have you sitting on their lap and you will feel something poking into you".

Other issues include some black and white photographs of dead animals, undetailed reference to rape and murder in newspaper headlines, and infrequent very mild bad language, including uses of 'butt' and 'God'.
