FARMING is a UK drama, set in the 1960s and 1970s, which follows the story of a Nigerian boy who grows up with a confused racial identity after his parents place him in temporary foster care with a white English family.

Language

There is use of very strong language ('c**t'), some of which is directed in the course of racist abuse. There is also a use of 'c**t' directed at a woman as she is manhandled and pushed to the ground by a gang of skinheads. There is use of strong language ('f**k'). Racist terms include 'wog', 'coon' and 'sambo', but such discriminatory language is not endorsed by the film as a whole.

Violence

Strong violence, some of which is charged with racism, includes beatings and the use of bladed weapons, and results in bloodshed and injury. A man is threatened with the mutilation of his genitals. In a brutal fight between rival skinhead gangs a man is set on fire when an improvised petrol bomb is thrown at him.

There are strong sex references and a scene of attempted suicide by hanging.
