DO THE RIGHT THING is a US drama about the simmering tensions in a multi-racial community in New York that spill over into violence on a hot summer's day.

Language

There are multiple uses of strong language ('motherf**ker', 'c**ksucker' and 'f**k'). Other bad language includes 'bastard' and 'shit'.

Discrimination

There is frequent racial abuse exchanged between black, white and Asian characters. The racist language is often aggressive. However, the work as a whole does not endorse discriminatory attitudes.

Nudity

There is a single scene of sexualised nudity as a man runs ice cubes over the bare breasts of his girlfriend.

Violence

There is a scene of strong violence in which a street fight is broken up by police. One man has a policeman's baton pulled across his throat and held there until he passes out and dies.

There are moderate sex references including a man saying that he is trying to keep his 'dick hard in a cruel and harsh world'. A woman also complains that it is too hot to make love.
