DESERT DANCER is a drama, based on a true story, about an Iranian man who establishes a dance company in defiance of a ban on dancing.

Drugs

There are scenes in which men and women smoke heroin, with which the government is flooding the streets in order to quell dissent. Drug use is not condoned and one of the female addicts undergoes distressing drug withdrawal.

Violence

A man is beaten by secret police, a crowd of anti-government protestors are beaten and clubbed, and a man is stabbed. However, there is no strong detail.

There is some moderate and mild bad language ('whore', 'bastard', 'hell').
