THE CONFESSIONS OF THOMAS QUICK is a documentary about Sture Bergwall, who claimed responsibility for a number of murders during the 1980s and 1990s.

Threat

There is a scene of strong threat during a dramatised re-enactment of a home invasion robbery in which two masked men force their way into a domestic environment and hold a family hostage. Although relatively short, the scene features a prolonged moment of threat when one of the invaders holds a knife to a woman's throat as she cradles her young son.

Violence

There are frequent references to the crimes attributed to Bergwall. Although visual references are few and largely undetailed, there are verbal references to rape, stabbings, strangulation, disembowelment, paedophilia, and cannibalism. There is also a dramatised re-enactment of an adult male being stabbed by another adult, with some sight of blood on hands, clothes, and the blade of the knife.

Theme

A series of murders attributed to Bergwall are discussed, as well as the treatment he underwent following his confessions. While doubt is cast over the reliability of his testimony, the crimes he describes include sexually abusing minors, murder, and cannibalism.

There is a scene of dramatised re-enactment in which a guard discovers a man attempting to commit suicide through suffocation. The sequence is brief and the mental state of the victim has been well established as fractured and susceptible to depression and drug addiction.
