Note: The following text may contain spoilers

CARTEL LAND is a documentary about drug cartels operating in the Mexican state of Michoacán and two modern-day vigilante groups fighting against them.

Disturbing images

The severed heads of drug cartel victims are seen on two occasions. Other images of real dead bodies are also shown, including two men hanging by their necks from a bridge and corpses lying by the side of roads. There is no clear injury detail, but some bloody is seen on the ground.

Language

There are around thirty uses of strong language ('f**k', 'motherf**ker'). There is also mild bad language, including use of 'asses', 'asshole', 'bastard', 'bullshit', 'crap', 'screwed over', 'shit' and 'son of a bitch'.

Drugs

There are numerous verbal and visual references to drugs, mostly relating to crystal methamphetamine, but there are no portrayals of drug use.

Other issues include witness accounts of murder and torture, scenes of mild to moderate violence, and infrequent mild sex references.
