CARRIE is a US adaptation of Stephen King's 1974 novel, which was previously adapted for the screen in 1976, following a shy student who uses her telekinetic powers to devastating effect when she is made the victim of a cruel prank.

There are scenes featuring bloody horror and gore. A female character is skewered through the arms and torso by a variety of knives, scissors and other sharp implements.

Injury detail

A young woman's head smashes through a car windscreen in slow motion, with shards of glass seen protruding from her bloody face.

There are uses of strong language ('c**ksucker', 'f**k').

A teenage student unexpectedly experiences her first period whilst taking a communal shower. The distressed girl is cruelly tormented and bullied by her classmates.

There is an undetailed birth scene and a single sex scene, in which a man's bare back can be seen as he thrusts into a woman in his truck. The sex scene includes no nudity or strong detail.

At one point, it is implied that a pig has been stunned with a blow from a sledge-hammer, before having its throat cut. However, the film was monitored and approved by the American Humane Association (AHA) to ensure that no animals were harmed.
