BIRDMAN is a drama following an actor once renowned for playing the title role in a superhero film, as he attempts to revitalise his career by writing, directing and starring in a theatre production.
- Language
There is frequent strong language ('f**k', 'motherf**ker' and 'c**ksucker'), sometimes used aggressively or in a sexual context.
- Sex
There are a number of strong sex references throughout, although most are comic in nature. At one point, a male actor suggests to a female actor that they should have real sex on stage during their performance in a play; however, she rejects the idea, despite his advances, and the moment is soon interrupted.
There are also some moderate drugs references surrounding a character smoking 'pot', as well as some brief scenes of moderate violence and infrequent, very brief blood splatters, most of which are revealed to be 'squibs' used in the theatre production. There is also use of discriminatory language ('Mongoloid').
