BATTLE MOUNTAIN is a documentary following the Scottish racing cyclist Graeme Obree as he prepares for the world human-powered vehicle land speed record attempt in Nevada.

Language

There are four clear uses of strong language ('f**k'), which are spoken during moments of stress or frustration, rather than in an aggressive or directed fashion.

There is also some milder bad language ('pissed', 'shitting', 'arse', 'bloody', 'God').

Sex

Obree talks about taking a prescribed anti-depressant that resulted in priapism, which he describes as a 'stiffy' that required surgery to rectify.

Imitable Behaviour

In one scene, Obree refers to his unsuccessful suicide attempts, briefly describing the methods. However, he does not endorse suicide and says instead that he is grateful to be alive.

Injury detail

There is close-up sight of an infected leg wound being packed out; however, there is no strong gory detail.

There are some negative verbal references to substance abuse and drug use in cycling.
