AWAKE is a psychological thriller about a man who suffers 'anaesthesia awareness' leaving him awake but paralysed during heart surgery.

Language

The film contains frequent use of strong language (‘f**k’).

Threat

The central conceit involves the experience of being awake and paralysed during surgery, creating a high level of psychological horror.

Disturbing images

Within the narrative context, there a brief scenes of heart surgery, including sight of scalpels being used to cut skin, stitching, ribs being spread and sight of internal organs.

There is also a sexualised scene of two fully-clothed characters in a bath, some brief nudity, and a fleeting shot of implied cocaine use, shown at a distance and without actual sight of the drug.
