THE ANGELS' SHARE is a contemporary drama set in Scotland about a young offender who sees an opportunity to change his life through the daring theft of a rare vintage whisky. It was originally rated 15 for cinema release after cuts were made to reduce the amount of very strong language. This version of the film reinstates all the language that was cut from the cinema release and has been rated 18 for very strong language.

The film contains fifteen clear uses of very strong language ('c**t'), a number of which are aggressive and directed. It also contains strong language throughout.

There is some strong violence when the central character is beaten up by a group of men, as well as during a 'flashback' sequence in which he reflects on his own brutal assault of a man that resulted in his imprisonment. The violence in these sequences has a strong tone but does not focus on the details of punches, kicks and headbutts being landed, or the bloody injury that results. The scenes in question have a strong narrative justification as they show those aspects of the central character's life that he is attempting to turn his back on.
