Note: The following text may contain spoilers

1984 is an adaptation of George Orwell's dystopian novel, set in a future in which humans are governed by a strict totalitarian state.

Violence

Scenes include shootings, beatings, and public hangings. There is also a torture sequence in which a man is electrocuted and subsequently has a tooth pulled.

Threat

A cage containing a rat is strapped to a man's face as he panics and cries out.

Nudity

There are occasional scenes of full frontal nudity, including in sexual contexts.

A scene of moderate sex features brief thrusting motions as a man lies on top of a woman. There are also verbal references to orgasms and STDs, and infrequent mild bad language.
