13 ASSASSINS is a Japanese drama about thirteen Samurai who band together in order to assassinate a sadistic warlord. The film was classified '15' for strong bloody violence.

At '12A'/'12' the BBFC's Guidelines state 'Moderate violence is allowed but should not dwell on detail. There should be no emphasis on injuries or blood, but occasional gory moments may be permitted if justified by the context. Sexual violence may only be implied or briefly and discreetly indicated, and must have a strong contextual justification'. There is a scene in which a man is stabbed below screen, resulting in blood spraying onto a woman's face, and another scene in which we see a blade embedded in a man's shoulder, also with some blood spray resulting. These scenes contain an emphasis on blood that is more appropriately classified at '15' where the Guidelines state 'Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury’. There is a further scene in which a young woman is dragged into a room and raped. However, the rape takes place off screen however and is only discreetly indicated.

13 ASSASSINS also contains occasional mild sex references and natural nudity.
