In a prolonged sequence of sexual threat a woman is grabbed by several men, who push her between them; they take her to a room where she is menaced by another man, who forcefully grabs her, attempts to strip her and tells her he wants her. This attack is interrupted by supernatural events. The woman is earlier told that her husband will be spared arrest if she offers herself up to a local lord, who repeatedly makes his unwanted designs on her known.

A malevolent, ghostly woman with bone-white skin and unnaturally coloured eyes menaces and threatens people she encounters, in several sustained sequences of threat. She murders several characters by supernaturally freezing them to death. Soldiers threaten villagers, including children, with beatings. An elderly woman is kicked and beaten by a soldier after trying to protect a child from him; a woman is whipped with a stick by a shamaness. There are occasional sex references and a clothed couple kiss and caress passionately on a bed. Characters occasionally behave in a sexist manner, reflective of the film's historical setting and there is a brief scene in which a young boy experiences bullying at the hands of his peers.
