strong violence, sex references, sex, discrimination, very strong language

THE BOYS NEXT DOOR is a 1985 US crime drama film in which two teenagers embark on a spree of violence during a post-graduation trip to Los Angeles.

THE BOYS NEXT DOOR is a 1985 US crime drama film in which two teenagers embark on a spree of violence during a post-graduation trip to Los Angeles.

violence
A man attacks a woman while she is having sex with another man, repeatedly strikes her and then shakes her until her neck breaks, all without strong visual detail. People are shot or beaten, occasionally resulting in strong bloody images. There are non-graphic references to real serial killers and their crimes, also including rape and child murder, and to these killers often having been abused in childhood, sometimes sexually.
language
There is infrequent use of very strong language (‘c**t’) and more frequent use of strong language (‘f**k’, ‘motherf**ker’). Milder terms include ‘prick’, ‘pussy’, ‘bitch’, ‘dick’, ‘shit’, ‘asshole’, ‘son of a bitch’, ‘pissflaps’, ‘balls’, ‘bastard’ and ‘tits’, in addition to use of the crude ‘wanker’ gesture.
sex
A sex scene shows a woman riding a man, without visible nudity. Strong sex references include sight of a flier depicting people in fetish gear engaged in BDSM activity, and a sequence in which a teenager shows his friend a crude drawing of their female classmate, naked and urinating.
discrimination
There are scenes of discriminatory behaviour including homophobic and sexist violence, sexual harassment, and use of discriminatory language (e.g. ‘camel jockey’, ‘queer’, ‘dyke’, ‘bitch’, ‘fag’, ‘butt-slammer’, ‘fudge-packer’); the work as a whole does not endorse discrimination.
additional issues
There are scenes of threat in which frightened people are subjected to violent attacks. Other issues include a brief scene of marijuana use.
