violence
People are kicked, punched and smashed through furniture, all without visible injury, when a brawl breaks out at a wedding. A man advises his friend to slap his future wife in order to keep her ‘in line’, and is later shown making a verbal threat of violence against his own wife.
language
Bad language includes ‘shit’, ‘bloody’, ‘bugger’, ‘crap’, ‘freaking’, ‘damn’, ‘God’ and ‘hell’.
sex
Comic sex references include non-graphic verbal references to pornography and STIs. It is implied that a man has an erection after being kissed; however, the related visual and verbal detail is discreet.
discrimination
Comic scenes of discriminatory behaviour, including homophobia, sexism, colourism and mental health discrimination, run throughout. For example, a man and his family repeatedly use the term ‘homo’ while reacting in despair to the revelation that he might be gay. Other scenes show men making misogynistic comments about women’s appearances and perceived level of ‘chastity’. The film as a whole does not condone discrimination.
sexual violence and sexual threat
In a comic scene, a man experiences a nightmare in which his colleague pushes him onto a table, straddles him and tears his shirt. In another scene, a woman who suspects her son is gay reacts in dismay to the news that he doesn’t ‘come on’ to his female friends.
