In one scene, the main character is tied to a chair and is hit in the face with a rifle butt, causing blood to spray from his mouth. He is then hit again, knocking him to the ground. His colleague is subsequently brought in front of him and shot in the head. The actual shooting is not shown, although blood is seen landing on the main character's face. In a later scene, the militia leader shoots one of his own men in the forehead, with some blood and gore exiting the back of the man's head. During a fight at sea, there is a prolonged scene in which the main character drowns another man, with some focus on the victim struggling. The film also contains a scene in which a man grabs another man's wife and takes her inside a house before shutting the door. The man then emerges and the husband is very upset. Nothing else is shown, although there is a clear implication that sexual violence has taken place. In a later scene, the same character attacks the main female character in her home, although she fights back. The man grabs a kitchen knife and starts threatening her with it, but the woman's father arrives and hits the man over the head with a pan, knocking him out.
