violence
A man is seen repeatedly slapping his adult daughter, who is in a state of distress. A comic imaginary sequence shows a man perpetrating despicable acts including stubbing a cigarette out on his wife’s behind, smashing bottles over her head, and sexually harassing an elderly woman, all without strong visual detail. In another scene, the hero berates his girlfriend for a perceived betrayal, accuses her of infidelity and of not being a virgin, and relentlessly mocks her as she cries. There is also a scene of moderate violence in which one man repeatedly punches another, leaving small bloody marks on the victim’s face.
sex
There are occasional sex references, including references to pornography and uses of the term ‘hooker’.
sexual violence and sexual threat
Online sexual harassment and abusive behaviour is a theme of the work. A video of a woman having sex is distributed online without her knowledge or permission; we see short extracts of the video which show the woman writhing on a bed with her chest blurred out to imply nudity. It is later revealed that the video was created using deepfake technology. In other scenes, women receive sexually harassing online messages speculating about their sexual history, offering them money for sex, and asking to watch pornography with them. One harasser requests a threesome with the recipient and her sister, and another threatens to kill himself if the recipient doesn’t respond to his messages. There are references to a ‘pervert’ having convinced women to send him ‘sensitive’ photos, and in another scene it is revealed that the hero has requested (non-explicit) photos from women under the guise of casting a movie. Sexually abusive behaviour is not condoned.
additional issues
A man is bullied online by people who make cruel comments about his weight; however, discriminatory bullying is clearly criticised. There are infrequent moderate references to suicide, and to drug misuse. There is infrequent mouthed strong language (‘f**k’); milder terms include ‘bullshit’ and ‘crap’, in addition to a casual use of the discriminatory term ‘sissy’. There are also scenes of mild rude humour.
