threat and horror
A conservationist speaks about having been subjected to death threats and harassment due to her opposition to the elephant tourist industry, and says that other elephant rescuers she knows have been injured or killed by snipers. The level of verbal detail is mild, however.
language
There is infrequent use of very mild bad language (e.g. ‘butt’).
discrimination
The film contains infrequent references to sexism within Thai society, but such attitudes are immediately criticised.
injury detail
There are brief, grainy images of a dead or injured person being kicked by an elephant during a fatal attack, without visible blood. We also see brief images of a dark blood stain on an elephant’s head resulting from mistreatment, and of a raw bite wound on another elephant’s tail.
disturbing images
A short sequence of grainy footage shows an elephant knocking a man to the ground and kicking his limp body. There is also occasional use of footage of elephants being hauled around in chains, worked to the point of collapse, or beaten with sticks or sharp metal hooks. However, the focus of the film is on the efforts to rescue and rehabilitate such elephants, and the overall tone is positive and inspiring.
theme
A woman becomes visibly emotional while speaking about the death of her mother.
