violence
There are several scenes depicting domestic abuse in which men beat their wives, in one scene in front of their frightened children. In repeated flashbacks, a woman slashes her husband's throat after he attacks her; however, this is shown discreetly and with only minimal bloody detail in the aftermath. Other scenes of moderate violence include whippings and beatings.
threat and horror
Men are threatening towards women in several scenes, including a sequence in which a a group of men destroy and burn down their house.
language
Bad language is mild ('screw', 'bitching'), and is accompanied by other milder terms ('moron', 'God' and 'hell').
discrimination
Male characters express sexist sentiments, but these are clearly subverted by the work as a whole.
sexual violence and sexual threat
A flashback implies that a woman is raped. There are several scenes in which a man uses coercive control over women, leering at them and appearing sexually threatening. In one sequence the man orders a woman to take some kind of herbal medicine to stop her from becoming pregnant, and then abandons her when this is not successful. The woman claims not to have had sex willingly, but is subjected to victim-blaming from her mother.
theme
Discreet references are made to abortion. Scenes contain emotional upset, including after several women find their house destroyed.
flashing/flickering lights
This work contains flashing images which may affect viewers who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy.
