violence
Scenes of strong violence include stabbings, bludgeonings and shootings using a bow and arrow. In one sequence, a villainous character throws a javelin at a person which impales them through their torso, resulting in a large blood spurt. Other moments include strangulation using a blood pressure cuff and suffocation using a pom pom.
threat and horror
There are scenes of strong threat, including occasional ‘jump scare’ moments, when teenagers are hunted and attacked by a masked killer.
injury detail
Bloody aftermath detail includes sight of blood splatter on character’s faces and blood dripping from a dead body into a small puddle below.
additional issues
Implied strong language occurs ('motherf**ker'), as well as use of the middle finger gesture and milder terms such as 'bitch', 'slut', 'ass', 'crap', 'asshole', 'freaking', 'God' and 'hell'. There are infrequent verbal and visual references to cannabis, including a brief comic sequence in which a dying teenage boy asks his friend to pull a joint out of his pocket, however, he dies before he can inhale. There is a scene of dangerous behaviour in which a teenage girl jumps off a tall building while fleeing from an attacker. She reassuringly lands in the arms of her skillful cheer teammates. There are euphemistic references to sending ‘taco emojis’ to love interests. Teenagers express shock that a classmate is a virgin.
