violence
There is a prolonged scene in which villagers hurl rocks at a person sheltering in a tree. The person subsequently falls to her death; a large amount of blood pools around her body and stains her clothes. It is implied that a cat is stabbed below the camera frame; however, there is no onscreen evidence of real animal cruelty. Scenes of domestic abuse include those in which parents slap and roughly handle their children.
threat and horror
A shaman performs a prolonged and distressing exorcism on a woman who is dragged by her hair which is subsequently chopped off with a razor blade. The woman is finally forced to eat excrement which she spits out. Unsettling scenes include those in which characters are unnerved by a person believed to be a witch. A person falls to his death from a rope bridge, subsequently drowning in the river below. There are scenes in which people are abducted.
language
Moderate bad language ('whore') occurs, as well as milder terms ('damn', 'hell', 'God').
sex
In one scene, a character remarks "Your phallus may do as it pleases".
sexual violence and sexual threat
A harrowing rape scene includes brief thrusting; however, the scene is filmed with restraint and, accordingly, there is limited detail. Following an illegal child marriage, it is implied that a girl is raped by her much older husband. However, following brief sexual threat, the scene cuts away so that the rape is never shown. There are also verbal references to rape and child sexual abuse.
theme
Scenes of emotional upset include those in which people grieve over the death of loved ones.
alcohol and smoking
Characters are seen smoking cigarettes and shishas.
