violence
There are scenes of strong violence which see people struck and stabbed with bladed weapons, causing blood to spurt and splatter. Intense sequences of bullying occur, during which school girls force a victim to wear a crown of thorns, causing bloody injuries, and force feed her liquid. A person beats their teen daughter viciously with a ruler, causing red bloody welts to break out on their skin, and later a man is brutally physically violent towards his wife, again causing bloodshed.
threat and horror
Teens are stalked and attacked by a hooded figure. In one sustained and menacing sequence, the person traps a girl, helpless and distressed, inside an abandoned bus.
language
Language is moderate (‘bitch’), as well as uses of milder terms such as ‘ass’, ‘crap’ and ‘hell’.
discrimination
A man makes a sexist remark towards a woman, however it is implicitly condemned.
sexual violence and sexual threat
It is implied that a child has been sexually abused by an adult, though this occurs off-screen. There is a strong reference to child sexual abuse when a child in a long white t-shirt is shown with blood staining around her crotch. It is revealed a man has been secretly filming a woman without her knowledge, including when she is getting undressed. Sexual violence is clearly challenged by other characters and the film as a whole.
suicide and self-harm
A man takes his own life, though there is no aftermath detail.
injury detail
After a man’s throat is slit off-screen, blood spurts from the wound in his neck. There are frequent bloody images as a result of, and in the aftermath of, violence.
theme
People grieve the deaths of loved ones.
