Education Manager

£35,000 - £40,000p.a. depending on experience

Full Time – 36 hours per week

The BBFC is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit media regulator. Our classification function is funded through fees charged to those who submit content to us. We operate transparent, consistent and trusted co-regulatory and self-regulatory classification and labelling systems in the UK.

The BBFC is here to help children and families across the UK choose well - whatever they watch, wherever and however they watch it.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing, you will be responsible for administering our educational offering, presenting to audiences about the work of the BBFC – both film and video classification and our work online, working in public facing environments, as well as researching into young people’s attitudes to classification, creating educational resources, and feeding into our outreach and public engagement programme.

We are looking for a highly organised and effective communicator who can bring creative and innovative ideas to the education team.  You will need to be:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent 

  • Knowledgeable in media regulation/compliance

  • Experienced in teaching and understand child development

  • Able to produce and present high quality presentations to different audiences

  • Capable of producing high quality written and visually engaging resources

  • Able to work across different projects at the same time

  • Willing to travel and work outside standard office hours

  • Self motivated and highly organised

Ideally you will have a passion for film, video, and online content, good knowledge of the current UK media landscape, some understanding about online safety, and ideas of how to help parents, teachers, teenagers and younger children choose well when selecting content to view on and offline.

From time to time there are opportunities for work shadowing and work experience placements at the BBFC. These are only available to applicants aged 18 or over, we cannot accommodate younger applicants. Opportunities will be published on this website when they arise.
