
Policy and Public Affairs Officer
- Full-time (36 hours per week)
- £35,000 - £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)
- Hybrid working (minimum of 2 days per week in the office)
The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) is the independent regulator for film and video for the UK. We are an independent, not-for-profit organisation and our mission is to empower audiences, especially parents, to make informed viewing decisions. We do this primarily through our widely recognised and trusted age ratings and content advice. We are at the forefront of regulatory policy, advocating for the protection of children and vulnerable adults in an ever evolving digital landscape.
We are looking for a Policy and Public Affairs Officer to help promote and enhance the BBFC’s work externally. Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Policy and Public Affairs, you’ll have strategic input into the BBFC's development of policy. You’ll draft policy papers and recommendations for the team as well as prepare briefings for stakeholders. You will be responsible for monitoring the political landscape, promptly alerting the wider team to any relevant political or policy developments. You will be responsible for further-ahead planning with the aim of identifying key opportunities for external engagement. You will also support in briefing parliamentarians on the BBFC’s work. And, you’ll work closely with the Communications team to ensure messaging across the BBFC’s Public Affairs, Policy and Communications team is aligned.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in policy development and/or public affairs with experience in delivering effective political strategies as well as building successful relationships with a range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will have excellent research, analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
