Note: The following text may contain spoilers

MICHAEL CLAYTON is a contemporary political thriller starring George Clooney. It was classified 15 for strong language and sex references. The BBFC's Guidelines at ‘15’ state that 'there may be frequent use of strong language (eg 'fuck'). But the strongest terms (eg 'cunt') will be acceptable only where justified by the context.' The film contains several uses of strong language and one use of very strong language. The one use of very strong language is delivered in a non-aggressive way about an absent unseen journalist and therefore sits comfortably within BBFC 15 language Guidelines. The film also includes verbal sex references that, despite being strong, are also infrequent. This is also in accordance with the current BBFC’s Guidelines at 15, which state that ‘there may be strong verbal references to sexual behaviour’.

The film also contains less strong language (shit, asshole, dick, piss, sonofabitch, bastard); the occasional passing drug reference: and moderate violence, notably the clinical murder of a key character by hitmen.
