ON CHESIL BEACH is a drama, based on the novel by Ian McEwan, following an unworldly couple's wedding night.

Sex

There is a strong sex scene with brief male genital nudity and brief sight of semen after sex. A woman reads from a sex manual. Men discuss the size of a woman's breasts and 'slipping her one'.

It's implied that a woman has been sexually abused.

There is moderate bad language ('bitch'), as well as milder terms such as 'bastard' and 'hell'. There is use of the discriminatory terms 'queer' and 'Jew boy', reflecting attitudes of the period.

There is moderate violence in a drunken fist fight. A woman is struck by the door of a moving train, but without strong injury detail.

There is natural female nudity.
